Plan a Caribbean All Inclusive Trip for the First Time – Dos and Don’ts

By : Jim Roberts

If this is your first time planning an all inclusive trip to the Caribbean, you might be looking for some helpful tips and tricks to get the best deal, find the best resort and more. For help with planning your first all inclusive Caribbean vacation, please keep reading on.

DO know what a stay at “true” all inclusive resort should give you. If you are traveling from the United States and if you aren’t a big traveler, you may have never stayed at an all inclusive resort before. Unfortunately, some are better than others. In fact, you will find some hotels and even motels that claim to be all inclusive when they really aren’t. A true all inclusive resort gives you lots of things to do and see right onsite but most of it was already included in the cost of your stay. For instance, a great all inclusive resort in the Caribbean will have a handful of included beach activities and land activities, multiple onsite eateries, and more!

DON’T forget that there are many all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. Whether you visit a travel website or plug “all inclusive Caribbean” resorts into a search engine, you will see many choices. There are even more out there. This is important to know because you don’t want to choose the first all inclusive resort that you come across. You want to view them all, eliminate those that aren’t the perfect fit, and then compare all of your favorites to find the best deal.

DO make the decision yourself. It is fine to do some research online and read about the top rated all inclusive resort in the Caribbean or look into a resort that a friend of a friend recommended, but you want to make the decision yourself. What is unique about the Caribbean and all inclusive resorts is that they aren’t all the same. You can find a large selection of different onsite restaurants, activities, entertainment, and more. You literally have the ability to find the resort that seems as if it was built for no one else but you. However, before that can happen you must know what you want and need to get from your travels.

DON’T gather information from a third party travel website. Now this isn’t to say that you can’t book your travel plans through one of these websites, but when it comes to information gathering you will find the most accurate and up to date information on the website of the resort in question. Moreover, you are likely to see a larger selection of pictures. When it comes to deciding which resort you want to choose, this extra information can help you make the right choice.

DO consider including your airline reservations in with your all inclusive Caribbean travel package. Most resorts will let you decide. If you were to dissect the cost of a travel package line by line, you would likely see that the costs of your flights are very similar. Basically this means that you can get a good deal by saving time and automatically including them in with your travel package.

DON’T choose a resort that is jam packed with inclusions you could careless about. Of course there really isn’t any harm that comes from staying at a resort where there is a lot to do and see. The thing though is you want to ensure it is stuff you want to do and see. Even though you don’t pay extra for inclusions, you did technically pay for use ahead of time. So if you don’t care about golfing, you don’t need to choose a resort with an onsite golf course.

DO examine nearby activities…just in case. What is nice about staying at an all inclusive resort in the Caribbean is that you can stay right onsite and have the vacation of your dreams. These resorts are designed to let you do and see everything you could imagine right on the property. This can save you travel time and travel costs. However, you might not know if and when that urge to get out and explore will hit. There are benefits to familiarizing yourself with nearby attractions and activities so that you aren’t left blindly driving around an unfamiliar place.

How to Choose Your Next Tropical Destination

By: Jim Roberts

There are many tropical destinations in the world, but how do you know which island is best for your particular holiday? What if you want to set off to a hushed romantic tropical resort and end up on a youthful party island? What if your island doesn’t have the amenities you prefer or the prices are higher than you expected? How do you find the best source of information? What do you look for in choosing the best tropical destination for you? Often many people don’t know where to start. Research from guidebooks can help, but that is time consuming. Here are some useful tips that can help you make the process of choosing your tropical holiday easier and quicker:
For starters, pick the type of island holiday you desire. Do you want an active island vacation, great diving, a luxurious island resort, an island that is very remote and off the beaten path, or will any island do for you? Pick one thing that is a deal breaker for you so if you become undecided between two destinations, you can use that one thing as the deciding factor.

Next, decide where on the planet you want to visit. Do you want your tropical holiday to be close to home or far away? Remember, the further away you travel, the more expensive the holiday will be. Even if the island is inexpensive, traveling there may not be.
Next, decide how much your budget will be. Some might choose this as the number one deciding factor when making the final decision on the destination. A semi expensive tropical island close to home will need less money than an inexpensive active island far away. You’ll need more money if you are flying to Bali from New York than you would if you were flying to Bermuda, even though Bali is a cheaper island.

Get some island names. Now that you know some of the places you would like to go for your vacation, what you want to do there?  How much money can you afford to spend?  Get a list of islands in that area to research. Draw up a list of five, otherwise the list becomes too long because there’s so many islands in the world. Get a healthy mix of popular island destinations and off the beaten path islands.

Research your tropical islands. What is the food like? What is the diving like? How much does it cost? Who goes there? Is it easy to get to? Does it have what you are looking for? Head to the store for a guidebook or do some online research at websites like best tropical islands.

Make a final decision. Now that you have narrowed your list down, make a decision. This is the hardest part, huh? All of those islands look good. Can’t we just go to all of them?  Unfortunately we can't afford them all!  We have to choose one. If you are having trouble picking one, use the deal breaker we discussed earlier to come to a final decision. All things being considered, this deal breaker should be the deciding factor. That way you stay focused and don’t over think your decision. By staying focused, you can go with your gut and make the decision much less painful and avoid second guessing.

So now you have picked your tropical island, go start booking flights and hotels. If you follow these guidelines, you will get to your perfect island getaway quickly while spending less time deciding where to go and more time at the location. Once there, you know that island will be exactly what you wanted and you will never have to say “Well.....It was good but…” no one wants to have regrets! So enjoy your tropical destination and have a fruity drink for me!

Living Your Dream

AMERICANS ON THE GO

The rising cost of living in the United States, along with the freedoms that are being taken away nearly everyday has many Americans wondering how free we really are.  Several thousand Americans have already made the decision to become expats and escape the high taxes, government bureaucracy, politics, and the high cost of living to retire in peace and comfort. We all dream of our little place in paradise.,  A place where we will spend our retirement years, hopefully without worries and fears of increased taxes and a much higher cost of living than we were paying yesteryear.  In addition to less taxes, and living costs, many people of retirement age are seeking a warm climate that doesn't shut them up in their home for three or four months out of the year. This alone can produce a much better quality of life.

THE RESIDENTS

Countries such a Belize, Panama, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Chile, and several others offer many beautiful tropical paradises in which to live, explore, and enjoy. The people that are native to these countries are some of the friendliest of peoples in the entire world. They are peaceful and fun-loving. They make quite warm and friendly neighbors and will welcome you to their homeland with open arms.  They always seem willing to help you settle in and make your transition easier, with a great "Mi casa es su casa" attitude. Americans will find many diverse cultures among these countries and their people, that you may find quite intriguing, like meeting in the local plaza every evening to sing and dance with a live Mariachi band. Since America has no true culture to call it's own, uniting in the cultural events of other countries is a new experience for many and can be fun and exciting.

RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES

There are many recreational activities that yoiu may explore, such as, scuba diving in crystal clear aqua-marine colored waters.  There are many splendors to be explored beneath the waves, beautiful tropical fish, natural coral reefs, sea turtles, and more.  For non-divers, snorkeling is a viable option.  Then of course, there is boating, skiing, jet-skiing, surfing, wind-surfing, sailing, and fishing.  The possibilities of having a great time seem endless.

SHOPPING

There are many well-established shopping centers in Central American countries.  The supermarkets stock just about everything you would find in an American grocery store, but you will find the prices much lower.  There are shopping malls, places like Sam's Club and Costco (They are called Pricesmart, such as the ones in Panama)  You will also find large electronic, appliance, computers, and furniture stores with familiar brand names.  Prices in these stores are similar or slightly less than those you are used to in the United States.
RESTAURANTS
There are many excellent restaurants to be enjoyed throughout Central America.  You will find fine dining at its best with a variety of cuisines from which to choose. Many of these fine restaurants are reasonably priced. Your most difficult task will be deciding where to dine.  Should you feel somewhat like you are missing the food at home, these countries also have several American restaurants and fast food chains everywhere including, but not limited to: McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Domino's, Hooters, TGIF, and Dunkin' Donuts.
BANKS
You can access your USA bank account at any of the ATM machines provided in countries such as Panama City, as well as, outside of the city (They use U. S. currency).  The banking systems in Latin America are very sophisticated and are at least a hundred strong.  The Scotia Bank of Canada is recommended for most foreigners visiting or living in Panama.  You may also be interested in speaking with a specialist in offshore banking.  They have very solid financial privacy laws and place no taxes on offshore gains. ing may access to your USA bank account are located throughout Panama City and in m
SCHOOLS
If you are planning to move and you have a family with children, there are several excellent private schools to choose from.  Nearly all foreign capitals have at least one American accredited school, some have more than one.  For instance, in Panama you will find three accredited schools: Oxford International School, The International School of Panama, and Balboa Academy.
MEDICAL CARE AND HEALTH SERVICES
Many Americans that are reaching retirement age are considering moving to Latin American countries because of the inexpensive health insurance and health care. Also, the quality of care received is superb.  Health care coverage costs an average of about $200 per couple, and that's for full coverage. English speaking doctors and dentists are also available.   for your convenience.  Prescription and over the counter drugs are also available and very inexpensive.

HOMES & RENTAL PROPERTIES
You will find many places to live in Central American countries.  You can choose anywhere you like from an oceanfront view to the city and from a country life into the mountains.  Homes and apartments come in various sizes and styles to fit your needs, The architecture is mainly Spanish Colonial, but in some of the newer developments you can find American, English and French style homes. Many areas have rentals on or near the beach for as low as $300.00 per month.  Now that is a rent payment I can afford!  For about $1900.00 per month, you can afford to buy a home, with a maid and a gardener, pay your utility bills and still have money for food and entertainment.  That is true living at it's finest. TECHNOLOGY
Although many of the countries in Latin America are still considered third-world countries; there are areas that do have high speed internet and provide services.  Telephone services and other basic service needs are also very dependable and cost efficient.
STILL HAVE RESERVATIONS?

The idea of leaving your homeland and retiring to a different country can be difficult at first and honestly it is not for everyone. If you weighthe benefits versus the hardships that many of us face in America, moving to another country can prove quite beneficial. Living in a country with less financial burden is nearly enough for me to make the decision.  However, the other amenities that exist there are very dream fulfilling for me.  Personally, I don't like cold weather and since I have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean, I have learned to love the tropical climate and the beautiful and serene aqua waters.  I love to stroll the tropical beaches, swim near cascading waterfalls, go fishing, and see stunning sunsets in the evening.  Just walking  out on your patio or terrace  in the morning to drink your coffee while listening to all the tropical birds sing seems to give you a sense of having a simpler lifestyle The beautiful vistas that your eyes behold are everything that a paradise should be.

Perhaps you are not ready for a permanent move but would like to enjoy these beautiful destinations for a shorter stay.  There are many affordable vacation packages that will permit you to just get away from it all and enjoy the same serene beauty that I have already described to you.  take a look at the many offers that are available to you and I am sure you will find one that will fit your budget. I would highly recommend taking a trip to one or more of these wonderful countries, stay for a couple of weeks if you can. I guarantee you will never want to go back home.
